Does a perfect work life balance exist?
Because it’s what so many of us try so hard to achieve because we’re always so busy.
However, while we’re busy gaining experience, making ends meet and climbing the career ladder, our actual lives can take a backseat.
And let’s face it – it can be stressful, disappointing and exciting trying to juggle ALL THE THINGS.
And you are not alone.
Because it is so easy to get caught up in the rat race and lose control of everything.
And even if you love your job, it needs to be a priority to maintain a healthy balance between work, health, relationships and everything in between.
I asked entrepreneurs at different stages of their journey, how they achieve a fulfilling work-life balance.
And the answers were pretty similar across the board.
Ways to create a fulfilling work-life balance
In March 2017, YouGov reported that 1 in 5 of 25-34 year olds are unhappy with their work-life balance.
Firstly, creating balance is important to employees and employers. Many of us are struggling to find employment. However, the pressure to go above and beyond is very real.
Here are some tips you can try to get that balance into place and not get stuck on the production line.
Prioritise tasks and allocate time to them
This is a no-brainer.
Get organised, get the more important stuff done, and work your way down.
Firstly, collect all the tasks you need to do. After that, identify what’s urgent and what’s important.
Be flexible and adaptable and know when to cut things off the list that you can’t get around to.
Because planning is a major key.
If you have no idea what you’re doing, you’re in for a long stint.
It will take you twice as long to get it done. Have a rough guide of what you need to do first, and then dive in.
Don’t work through your lunch hour
Also, don’t eat unhealthy quick foods at your desk!
Because a break is a break.
Get away from the phone, computer and desk and chill for a bit.
Even if it’s only 5 minutes – feel the effects of taking a break!
Don’t stay up late replying to emails and not get enough sleep
Trust me when I say, those people you’re emailing, probably won’t be awake.
Start making winding down at night a priority and aim to put away any work-related stuff by a particular time.
It will help you recover from distractions, prevent burnout and will help make better decisions.
Get some proper sleep and see your productivity soar.
Take some time off!
Holiday entitlement is there FOR. A. REASON!
The last thing you want to experience is burnout. Trust me, I’ve been there.
Use it to unwind, catch up with Stranger Things and spend time with your loved ones.
It’s essential time that you could use to take up a new hobby, spend time with your friends or visit a new place.
By finding a task you enjoy, you will be more inclined to actually use your holiday entitlement and break away from work.
Fill your free time with something that sparks joy and something you can continue enjoying in your spare time.
Start putting yourself and your wellbeing first by working on your work life balance.
Life is WAY too short to be unhappy, burnout and unfulfilled.
